The Lagos State Government on Tuesday raided the Oluwole Market in Mushin and seized large quantity of banned styrofoam at a warehouse.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab disclosed this on Tuesday on his X handle.

Wahab said the styrofoam warehouse was uncovered based on intelligent gathering, saying that operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) raided the warehouse and impounded the styrofoam.

The commissioner disclosed that the owner brought the banned styrofoam to the market in the early hours of Tuesday.

He said the product had been confiscated and  taken to the KAI office in Oshodi for incineration.

In his words: “Based on intelligence gathering, the operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) discovered a styrofoam warehouse at Ojuwoye Market in Mushin.

“The owner brought in the banned styrofoam to market in the early hours of today. The products have been confiscated and taken to the KAI office in Oshodi for incineration.

“The Lagos State government is reiterating its commitment to ensuring a healthy, cleaner and safer environment for all Lagosians.”
