The Nasarawa government has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Bobtract Tractor Limited to establish a tractors assembly plant in the State.

This was made known in a statement issued in Lafia on Thursday by Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs.

The signing ceremony took place in Abuja, with the State governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule in attendance with other senior officials from the State and the firm.

The statement said “The partnership aims to enable to enable the company make use of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI’s facilities in Lafia to assemble tractors, provide affordable and high-quality tractors to farmers in the state, enhance agricultural productivity and mechanization as well as create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the State, among others.

Governor Sule was quoted in the release as describing the event as an epochal chapter in the government’s efforts to woo investors to Nasarawa State, uplift the agricultural sector and promote economic advancement

He also expressed his pleasure at the collaboration, noting that it is in line with his administration’s agriculture development programme and plan to make Nasarawa a leading agric centre in Nigeria.

Ahemba added that the governor had made the agreement between Bobtract and NASENI possible. It includes that the tractor company will use NASENI’s facilities in Lafia while assembling the tractors.

The first assembled tractors are expected within 120 days.
