Gunmen kill OSPAC vigilante operative in Rivers

Operatives of the Rivers Police Command are combing the nooks and crannies of Igwuruta community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state for the killers of a vigilante operative with ONELGA Security Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC) simply identified as Prince.
Prince was shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen believed to be kidnappers in Igwuruta community on Wednesday night.
It was learnt that Prince was among OSPAC vigilante members who responded to a distress call about incident of kidnapping in the area, but were ambushed by the gunmen who opened fire on them.
He was shot dead by the gunmen while his other colleagues escaped.
The incident was said to have thrown the community into panic as residents scampered for safety.
At press time, the corpse of the deceased had been evacuated and taken to undisclosed mortuary.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident.
She said the incident is already being investigated.
