Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has become the first African artiste to surpass two billion streams mark in the United Kingdom.

The singer was presented with a Brit plaque at his sold-out show at Koko Camden in London on Monday night, in recognition of the feat.

This comes barely few weeks after he was presented with a Brit 1 billion streams plaque at his sold-out show at the London Stadium last month.

Receiving his Brit 2 billion streams plaque, Burna Boy revealed that he fought for it.

He said, “Thank you very much. I appreciate you. Ehen, now that’s it. You’ve to fight for your right.”

One of the presenters inferred: “You already have it. You don’t need to fight.”

Burna Boy rebuffed: “No. You know, we have to fight for our rights.”

Burna Boy also holds the record of the highest-peaking African album on the UK chart, with his sixth studio album ‘Love, Damini’ topping the chart in July 2022.

Following Saturday’s sold-out show, Burna Boy becomes the first African artiste to solo-headline a UK stadium twice.

This historic milestone underscores his status as one of Africa’s most prominent global music icons. Nigerians have celebrated Burna Boy’s achievement with awe and pride, highlighting his international recognition and performance prowess.

The self-acclaimed African Giant gave an electrifying performance during his ‘I Told Them’ world tour. He performed songs like I Told Them, Gbona, Dey Play, Location, Sittin’ on Top of the World, Big 7, Talibans Remix, Giza, City Boys, It’s Plenty, Last Last, and so on.

Burna Boy also brought out some Nigerian colleagues on stage, including Omah Lay, Phyno, Shallipopi, Odumodu Blvck, Seyi Vibez among others.

Burna’s show last year had guest appearances from Stormzy, Dave, J Hus, and Popcaan, and others.
