Togolese Held Over Missing Maid

The police at the Onikan division, Ikoyi, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria have arraigned a Togolese, Wimo Kazeem, 22, before the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court on a count charge of abduction.

The police alleged that the accused on 11 August, 2011 at Obalende Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, allegedly lured a househelp, Rose, 24, to an unknown place.

The prosecutor, Peter Nwangwu alleged further that the accused refused to disclose where he took the woman to.

His offence is punishable under Section 361 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. 11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. F.O. Abegunde granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the matter till 7 October, 2011 for mention.

The accused was remanded at the Ikoyi Prisons on the orders of the magistrate when he could not meet the conditions attached to the bail.
