Lagos warns public against fake enforcement personnel

The Lagos State Government has again urged the general public to be vigilant against individuals posing themselves as enforcement personnel of the Ministry of Transportation, (MOT) and Local Government Areas, (LGAs).
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Olawale Musa who made this call on Thursday in his office at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, stated that despite recent operations by the Ministry which has led to the apprehension and prosecution of several impostors who have been illegally operating in various parts of the State, the illegal operators have continued in their numbers all of the metropolis.
The Transportation Permanent Secretary revealed that the fake enforcement personnel, two of whom were apprehended at Cele Ijesha roundabout, Itire on Wednesday now operate much in areas such as; Mushin, Itire, Ijesha, Ilasa, and Ikeja, adding that they have been impeding traffic through their nefarious activities and exploiting unsuspecting Motorists.
While urging the public to collaborate with the Ministry by reporting any suspicious activities involving the supposed fake enforcement impostors to the Ministry’s public complaint numbers; 09020004000 or. 09020009000, Mr. Musa affirmed that all genuine officers of the Ministry of Transportation are properly identified and they operate within the legal framework.
He further assured that the State Government is committed to safety and security of its citizens and will continue to take decisive actions against fraudulent activities; he added that the apprehended impostors will be charged to court and prosecuted in accordance with the Laws of the State.
