The Ports Authority Police, Western Command, has pledged to protect port facilities and ensure uninterrupted economic activities during the proposed nationwide #ENDHUNGER protest starting on Aug. 1.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, said that the command had deployed strategic assets to secure Apapa Port, Tincan Island Port, Lekki Deep-Sea Port and other facilities within its jurisdiction.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Olanrewaju Ishola, warned that any attempt to disrupt port operations or incite violence would be met with strong resistance.

Ishola emphasised that the command would ensure free passage on all port access roads and cautioned miscreants against using the protest as an opportunity to cause chaos.

He assured stakeholders of the command’s commitment to engaging with maritime unions and utilising intelligence to maintain law and order.
