ACN Leaders Back Ariyo

The leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Oshodi/Isolo Local Government Area, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, has debunked the rumour making the rounds that the council’s flagbearer in the forthcoming local government elecions, Hon. Bolaji Ariyo, is not an indigene of the area.

Pa. J. O. Olabintan, Chairman, Elders Council of the local government, disclosed this during the party’s stakeholders’ meeting at his residence on Wednesday.

Present at the meeting were Hon. Salami Adejare, Alhaji Dele Mabinuori, Chief B. L. Morakinyo, Chief Abayomi Ogunoloko, Pastor I. A. Shobiyi, Alhaji Muniru Obidairo, Elder S. K. Adeyemi, Alhaji T. A. Agbalaya, Elder O. Ariyibi Oke, Prince Oseni Agedegudu, Chief (Mrs.) C. A. Badejoko and Mr. S. O. Ogundare.

Others are Hon. Waheed Adeyinka, Hon. J. D. A. Ojo. Alhaji M. A. Shobayo, Mr. Ayo Sekoni, Hon. F. O. Osho, Alhaji M. A. Animashaun, Chief I. O. Loye, Chief Soroye, Mr. Shina Olumuyiwa and Mr. Shamsideen Adeyinka.

According to Pa Olabintan, “Bolaji Ariyo is the son of the soil and an indigene of this local government by birth. His mother and I have been living in this Oshodi for over 50 years. His deputy, Daisi Osho, was also born and raised here in Oshodi. Their father’s houses are in this local government area and they are both sons of the soil.

“What we noticed was that some dissidents, PDP returnees within our party, are trying to spoil the party for us. They are the ones spreading this false and malicious rumour. It has been made known to us that they have a secret pact with the PDP. I want to assure you that they will fail woefully,” he said.

Speaking in the same vein, the ACN vice chairmanship aspirant for Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, Daisi Osho, described the rumour as a deceit on the part of those spreading it.

He said: “That is not right and a great deceit on the part of those spreading this evil information. Some of these people are PDP returnees. They are fifth columnists and they want to destabilise this great party.

“All the candidates that emerged from this local government right from the chairman down to the councillors emerged on merit. They scaled the party’s rules and regulations. Their emergence was based on popular demand from both within and outside the party hierarchy.

“Therefore, those sitting down in the corner and cooking up rumours, I will want to say it is a mischief on their part. They are working for the PDP because of their background and when the time comes, we shall chronicle their activities for the public to see,” he said.

Daisi further said” the father of the same Ariyo they are spreading falsehood about, has a street here in Oshodi. My father, too, has a house here and I have been living in this area over the years.”

On their programmes for the council if elected, Daisi said: “By the grace of God, the chairmanship aspirant and my humble self have one vision and one voice. One of the things that we are going to do is to ensure that we improve and increase the infrastructure facilities that we have on ground. We will make it a priority to rehabilitate and equip our primary schools, public health centres and engage our youths in the area of sports development.
