“Dialogue better than protests” – Sen. Sahabi Ya’u warns youths in Zamfara

Senator Sahabi Ya’u has urged youths in Zamfara to refrain from participating in the planned nationwide protest, warning that it could exacerbate insecurity in the state.

Speaking at a news conference in Gusau on Tuesday, Ya’u encouraged young people to avoid the protest so that security forces can focus on addressing the issues of banditry and kidnapping that plague the state.

Ya’u noted that Zamfara has been severely affected by banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes, leading to a significant humanitarian crisis.

He cautioned that a mass protest, which could be taken over by troublemakers, would only aggravate the state’s situation.

“The key for our youth is to find ways to engage with the government through dialogue to address their concerns, rather than creating national instability,” he stated.

The senator noted that various levels of government are implementing effective policies to combat the rising cost of living and improve the nation’s economy, which would benefit citizens in the long run.

“Every beneficial policy comes with challenges, and we must give the government time for these policies to develop. Dialogue with the government is always a better option than protesting, as protests often lead to unfavorable outcomes,” Ya’u added.
