Alimosho NURTW Flags Off Housing Project

In its bid to alleviate the accommodation problems of its members, the leadership of the Alimosho branch ‘A’ of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos State Council, has flagged off a housing project at Ayetoro, Itele in Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Speaking at the ceremony where papers and other documents were presented to the beneficiaries in Lagos, the chairman of the branch, Comrade Olusope Bodude disclosed that the branch bought the five acres of land for the housing project at N11,000,000.

He explained that the project would be in two phases. Under the first phase, all the 42 principal officers, that is the chairman, secretaries and treasurers of all the 14 units that made up the branch were given papers and other documents to take possession of the land.

The second phase will take care of other members of the executives. Comrade Bodude explained that the branch has been empowered to ensure the January deadline for the completion of the project. He explained that because of the huge financial involvement, the NURTW president was notified and is expected to inaugurate the project.

On how the branch was able to raise money for the land, he explained that it was able to do so through prudent management of resources, adding that the land were given out free of charge to beneficiaries.

He thanked members of the branch for their support since he took over the leadership of the branch ‘A’ about three and half years ago.

Excited beneficiaries lauded the branch chairman for his leadership qualities when they were presented with documents for the land.

Commenting on the project, the state secretary, Comrade Akin James, commended the leadership of the branch for making the welfare of members their priority. He enjoined other branches in the state to emulate Alimosho branch ‘A’ and come up with people-oriented projects.
