‘Boko Haram Wants To Frustrate Jonathan’

The Igbo Solidarity Movement, a group which seeks to protect the interest of Igbo people in the country, has describd the activities of the dreaded Islmaic sect, popularly called Boko Haram, as aimed at frustrating the government of President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a statement by its General President, Evangelist Ben Diala, the group also said the sect was aiming to discredit the President among the people of the country and the world rather than the claim by members that they are fighting for the full implementation of the Shariah legal system in some parts of the country.

It threatened to mobilise people for a reprisal if the sect does not stop carrying out attacks on the country and its people.

“The silent Igbo Solidarity group has kept quiet and studied the situation of the wanton killing of innocent people and Christians in their various worship centres in the northern region.

“Now, enough of this, Boko Haram must not forget that Nigeria remains an indivisible entity. There is no need for any dialogue with a suicide bomber. If we may ask, whose uncle, father, husband, brother will be bold to dialogue with a suicide bomber who wants to die with so many people?

The group said the action of the sect is a sign of a civil war which may turn this country into a battle field if nothing is done about it.

It said: “it is possible we have slept enough and our butchered like animals in the recent past in the same northern region, why northern region everytime?

“The refusal of the northern elders to call their boys to order is a clear message that they are fed up with a country called Nigeria.

“We will help them to achieve their aims, hence, they want to go through civil war.

It also challenged the Oodua Peoples Congress and other such bodies in the country to rise up and stop the attacks carried out buy Boko Haram.
