Ogun State is set to hold the first National Transporters Game for transport unions in Nigeria come October 2024.
Wale Sodehinde, Project Director of National Transporters Game while speaking with newsmen during stadium inspection with national transporter leaders in Sagamu, and Ikenne, noted that the one week game is to bring unity in diversity among transporters in Nigeria.
Stadiums inspected include: Gateway International Stadium Sagamu and the Remo Star Stadium Ikenne. The National Youth Service Corps Camp at Sagamu meant for the accomodation of participants of the event, was also inspected.
Sodehinde while acknowledging Engr Dayo Ogundipe who conceived the idea in 2017 with former Senator representing Ogun West Gbolahan Dada, said that the aim of the event would be to change the negative perception of people about the Nigerian transporters.
“We are trying to make sure there is unity, love and growth among those driving the economy of this country.
“Transporters are major players in the Nigerian economy. They should be well addressed. They should have good image,” he said.
