Christ Embassy To Distribute Free Copies Of Rhapsody In Calabar
In keeping with its patriotic practice of distributing free copies of its daily devotional
Rhapsody Of Realities during Nigeria’s Independence anniversary on the 1st of October every year, Christ Embassy is handing out over one million copies of the devotional in Cross River State this time.
The free distribution which started with the launching on Friday, 23 September 2011 in the Calabar headquarters of the church by the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Larry Odey, is meant to get to all parts of the state.
Pastor Marcel Obode, the pastor in charge of the ministry in Cross River State, said during the launch that the church was committed to nation building and the instrument of the word of God is a potent force which can affect change in a nation and the lives of its people.
According to Pastor Obode, no effort at nation building is too little or wasted that is why the church is committed towards changing the mindset of Nigerians to love the country and also be committed towards its growth.
“Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has often emphasised that if we all do a little we can all do much,†he said.
He said in 2010, the church donated 50 pieces of high calibre walkie-talkie to the police command in Cross River State to assist it in maintaining security in the state “but we discovered that that our effort was not enough as many policemen especially the rank and file could not get the equipment. To this end, we are going to do more this year.â€
Obode also said the church will rehabilitate and furnish designated secondary and primary schools within Calabar as its contribution to the development of education in the state.
“We have written to the Ministry of Education and we are awaiting their response, once we get the nod from them, we will move in. In one of the schools, the kids have no desks to seat on. We will do something about it,†he stressed.
Assessing the progress the country has made so far, Pastor Obode said in spite of the cultural diversities that abound in the nation, the country has achieved a lot and made a lot of progress in the past 51 years and emphasised that
Nigerians have a very high level of survival ability and with President Goodluck Jonathan at the helm of affairs, more progress will be attained un the next four years.
The Speaker of the Cross River State House of assembly, Hon Larry Odey said Christ Embassy has become a role model for other organisations to follow.
“If you give to prisons, rehabilitee schools, and give to the police, then you are part of government as the load is taken off the shoulders of government,†he said.
Hon odey who was represented by his deputy, Hon Itaya Asuquo Nyong, said the Assembly would support the church in the distribution of the
Rhapsody of Realities.Â
The Muri of the Efuts, in his speech said he had been part of the church and its activities since 2007 and called on the church to continue to be a role model.
“Pastor Chris is a role model, the youths should emulate his dressing, his speech and his love for the word of God,” he said.
