‘We Won’t Go Back To Work’

The striking workers of the Lagos State Water Corporation, have vowed not to go back to work until Engr. Sayo Holloway, the organisation’s Group Managing Director, is removed.

The workers commenced an indefinite strike last Tuesday, calling for the removal of the GMD on the allegation of maladministration, mismanagement of funds and many others

The workers have since been holding prayers and vigils since the commencement of the protest in the front of the Ijora headquaters of the organisation.

Comrade Obatomiwa Odusanwo, chairman of the Ijora branch of the Amalgamated Public Corporation Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), called on the state government to set up a panel to look into the rehabilitation works done by Mickron Service Nigeria Ltd on some of the micro water works at Imeke, Badagry, Apapa, Isolo and Surulere.

.Odusanwo also called on the workers to disregard a circular purportedly issued by the GMD calling them to report back to work, adding that the union would inform them at the appropriate time.

When P.M.NEWS visited the Ijora headquarters this morning, all the gates were locked up and the main gate was blocked with the staff buses.

The striking workers also carried placards with different inscriptions such as Let Holloway Explain to Lagosians the Relevance of SEGMAHSEN Rehabilitation, With IPP Water Production is Less Than 30%, Shayo Must Go. Others were hung on the iron fence of the corporation’s head office.

All efforts to speak with embattled GMD proved abortive as he refused to pick our call nor did he reply the text massage sent to him.
