Wife of Edo State Governor, Mrs Betsy Obaseki, has said that properly conducted elections are crucial and strategic in determining the future of a nation.
This is even as she emphasized the importance of choosing capable leadership ahead of parochial interests.
She stated this during the women’s campaign for the 21 September governorship election organized by the PDP Women Campaign Council in Irrua, Esan central local government area.
Present at the rally were women from Esan Central, Esan West, and Igueben.
The Edo First Lady noted that the quality of governance directly impacts daily life, including economic conditions such as rising food prices.
“Elections should not be treated lightly,” she remarked, underscoring how leadership can influence the nation’s prosperity or challenges.
Also speaking, the wife of the PDP candidate, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, appealed to the women for their support, comparing it to the care a mother gives her child.
She expressed confidence in their backing to help her husband to secure victory.
Other women leaders of the party from across Esan land urged the electorate to show their gratitude to Governor Godwin Obaseki by voting for Ighodalo.
They praised the Governor’s focus on substantial work over monetary politics and encouraged voting for Ighodalo as a continuation of good governance.
The event concluded with a united resolve among the women to ensure PDP’s success in the forthcoming election.
