The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a formal summons to Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee.

This development was confirmed by Ibrahim Abdullahi, the PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, during an appearance on Channels Television’s program, Sunrise Daily, on Monday.

According to Abdullahi, Wike has been summoned to face the disciplinary committee, chaired by Chief Tom Ikimi, to address allegations of anti-party activities. The committee was established by the PDP’s National Working Committee to investigate and address issues of party indiscipline.

Abdullahi stated that the committee has received numerous petitions regarding Wike’s alleged anti-party activities, which are believed to have sabotaged the party’s interests during the primary elections and beyond. He noted that some party members have expressed concerns about Wike’s continued membership in the PDP, given his alleged actions.

Furthermore, Abdullahi criticized Wike’s recent statement threatening to “put fire” in the state of any PDP governor who tries to interfere in the affairs of PDP in Rivers State.

Abdullahi described Wike’s statement as “wrong and unacceptable.” He urged Wike to exercise greater caution in his public utterances, stating that the party was disappointed by his remarks.

However, this development comes two days after Wike expressed his satisfaction with serving in the Bola Tinubu administration, despite criticism from within the PDP.

During the PDP Congress in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike also threatened PDP governors, saying “Let me assure all of you, not while we live will anybody take away the structure of PDP from us. But let me tell people, I hear some governors who say they will take over the structure and give back to somebody, I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states. When God has given you peace, you say you don’t want peace – anything you see you take.”

“I don’t understand simply because l hear they got some money from a signature bonus; and so, their heads are getting big, that you put a hand in my own state. Prepare, prepare, because I have the capacity to also do the same thing in your own state. Whether you are from Bauchi, I don’t give a damn. Whichever state you come from, as far as I know, that you are trying to put yourself in Rivers State, your hand will get burnt. And you will never sleep in your own state. You will not be governor again. You will see a political crisis as far as PDP is concerned. So, I have told them now that you have started, when I will start, don’t say I’m the one that destroyed PDP. You are the one that is trying to destroy the PDP,” Wike added.

The FCT minister also advised those displeased with his position in the Tinubu government to “go and hug the transformer.”
