Grassroots Tourney Holds In Amuwo-Odofin

The much awaited Grassroots Soccer Championship will kick off on Sunday at the Olympic Sports Complex, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos.

The opening match will be played between Young Planners and CICY FC, while defending champions, Arsenal FC will battle Zillion in the second match of the day.

Twenty teams are expected to take part in the competition, which is put together by Amuwo Odofin Coaches Council.

Match Coordinator, Emmanuel Oscar, said the tourney will help some coaches within Amuwo Odofin to discover young talent that they can nurture to the stardom, adding that all the teams have equal chance to win the tournament.

“I am impressed with the numbers of clubs that show interest in our competition. I want to appeal to the players to play the game according to the rules and regulations. I wish them the best of luck,” he said.
