Nigerian actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has reflected on the lessons she learned in the year since the death of singer Mohbad.

In an Instagram post, Aiyeola wrote that one of the most important lessons is to never put yourself forward as a “sacrificial lamb” for anyone, even family members.

Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023, was shrouded in controversy, and Aiyeola’s post suggests that she believes he made sacrifices for others that ultimately led to his downfall.

Aiyeola also warned against getting one’s conscience “dirty” for wealth and emphasized that the love of money and fear of powerful people can turn even loved ones against you. She added that human survival instincts have no respect for blood, love, loyalty, or friendship, and that poverty will always be a tool in the hands of the wealthy.

Aiyeola urged people to remember Mohbad and learn from his tragic story.

She also expressed hope that his death will not be in vain.

Here is Aiyeola’s full Instagram post:

“It’s been 1 yr since Mobad transitioned and a lot has happened, still happening

Few lessons learnt i) The risk of getting ur conscience dirty for wealth is not worth it in d end.

ii) The love for money and fear of supreme influence will turn even ur blood and love against u.

iii) Human survival instincts is no respecter of blood, love, loyalty or friendship.

iv) Poverty will forever be a tool in the hands of the wealthy

v) Try not to put urself forward as the sacrificial lamb for ANYONE (I am doing this for my family, my siblings, parents) walahi the chances that ur sacrifice will be robbed in the mud, fighting each other dirty in da mud is somewhat inevitable

REST ON IMOLE.”
