Timini Egbuson claps back at ‘Chosen’ trend, threatens to block fans

Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has expressed anger after a fan sent him a direct message (DM) requesting money for breakfast, declaring herself a member of the ‘Chosen’.

The trending phrase, often associated with jokes and internet trend, did not amuse the actor.

In response, Timini warned that he would block any future messages from ‘Chosen’ members, stating that he did not find the trend funny.

His stance garnered widespread support from his followers, in contrast to the backlash singer Peruzzi faced when he also dealt with a similar situation.

Peruzzi had reacted harshly when approached by a fan identifying as a ‘Chosen’ member who asked him for money, leading to criticism from netizens.

However, Timini’s reaction sparked a different response, with many backing his decision.

Netizens were quick to share their thoughts on the issue. Instagram user joybargram commented, “This is subtle begging… Stylish bambiallah,” while onlv1luwa added, “We overdo everything! Even ‘Demure’ is still at the hospital recovering!”

Another user, melanie.xoxo, shared, “Nigerians don’t just know when to stop… I’ve never been a fan of this trend, it’s not funny.”

Several other users echoed similar sentiments, with iam_ivan1456 saying, “Am I the only one that doesn’t find this funny?” and gafgold adding, “Same here, I never even type am since it started trending maybe I’m a different human being or don’t find the jokes funny.”

While some supported Timini’s right to block users, others urged the actor to take a more measured approach. Valleyoakrealty noted, “It’s okay to block people but make una no dey do like say if una block some people una don block their lives. Abeg make Timini rest.”
