Officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reached the Idinrio Primary School polling unit in Okaigben, Ewohimi, Esan South East Local Government Area of Edo State around 10:30 a.m.
Shortly after their arrival, Ighodalo, the PDP’s candidate, reached the cenre at approximately 10:33 a.m.
He expressed disappointment over the delay but acknowledged that voting was still within the allotted time.
In an interview, Ighodalo stated that he was giving INEC the benefit of the doubt, though he noted similar delays in several PDP strongholds.
“The INEC Chairman has assured us of a credible process. I urge everyone to remain calm and come out in large numbers to vote. However, there are reports of people in police mufti arresting our supporters. We will not be intimidated,” he said.
Ighodalo also alleged that PDP supporters were being targeted, citing an incident in Uromi where a supporter waiting in line to vote was arrested.
