Outrage as fans donate money for Kiddwaya to buy iPhone 16

Fans of reality TV star and billionaire’s son, Kiddwaya, have contributed money for him to purchase the newly released iPhone 16.

Kiddwaya, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, shared screenshots of the credit alerts he received, with fans donating amounts as small as ₦5,000 and as large as ₦20,000.

While the reason behind the fan contributions remains unclear, the act has ignited outrage online.

Many Nigerians are puzzled as to why fans are donating to someone who hails from a wealthy family. Social media users quickly weighed in on the situation.

One user, @oluwa_fola1, wrote, “Donating money for a billionaire’s child is crazyyyy.”

Another user, @chi_artistry22, commented, “Forget about the show-off. This guy is broke. Yes, his father is rich, but he’s not spending his money on his children.”

Some users saw the fan donations in a different light.

@chefnshopper stated, “Even the rich deserve a little bit of kindness. Sometimes they just want to know what it feels like to be on the receiving end. Possible he will return the money double.”

However, the overall sentiment was one of disbelief. @lulurichie posted, “Before una wise, I go don almost die contributing money for a billionaire’s son, chai! Who do us like this?”

Another critic, @gidi_love, linked the behaviour to Nigeria’s political climate, writing, “Something is definitely wrong with Nigerians. With all this, and y’all expect politicians to take you seriously.”
