Renowned filmmaker Obi Emelonye’s latest work, Out of Breath, has been selected as the closing film for the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) 2024.

This milestone marks a significant achievement for Emelonye and his team, as the Igbo-language film, made a year ago, gains momentum on the heels of nine nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA 2024).

The film has been recognised in multiple prestigious categories, including Ousman Sembene Best Film in an African Language, NFVCB Best Nigerian Film, Anyiam Osigwe Best Film by an African Living Abroad, as well as awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Screenplay, Best Visual Effects, Best Makeup, Best Costume, and Best Production Design.

“To God be the glory,” he shared, celebrating the film’s recognition.
