Popular Nigerian actress Nkechi Blessing publicly apologized to the Theater Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN) and its president, Bolaji Amusan, known as Mr. Latin, after a longstanding dispute.

Blessing’s apology, delivered onstage during the recent Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada, marks a turning point in her relationship with the industry body she once openly criticized.

The conflict originated in 2021 when Nkechi, alongside actress Iyabo Ojo, criticized TAMPAN for its perceived leniency towards Baba Ijesha, an actor embroiled in a child abuse controversy.

Nkechi’s public condemnation led to friction with TAMPAN members, including actors Yomi Fabiyi and Lege Maimi.

Veteran actor Jide Kosoko responded by announcing a directive barring directors from working with Nkechi and Iyabo, a decision Nkechi openly mocked at the time.

However, in a widely circulated video from the awards event, Nkechi expressed deep remorse, kneeling as she addressed Mr. Latin and the TAMPAN officials. “I miss the industry,” she said, visibly emotional, expressing her hope for reconciliation.
