R&B sensation Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has opened up about the challenges of navigating Nigeria as a high-profile artiste, particularly why she avoids driving herself in the country.

Speaking on a U.S. podcast with Big Boy TV, Tems shared how her celebrity status has intensified public attention on her, to the point of nearly being mobbed in Lagos late last year.

Tems explained that while she once drove regularly in Nigeria, her growing popularity now requires heightened security whenever she travels by car.

“I used to drive in Nigeria, but now I can’t drive,” she revealed. “I almost got mobbed last December. If I want to drive, I must have police escorts at the front and the back.”
