In a landmark move, Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on Wednesday swore in Musa Umar Ikhilor as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Samson Osagie as Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, just 24 hours after his own inauguration.

This swift appointment process, completed within a day, underscores Okpebholo’s commitment to efficient governance.

Shortly after taking office on Tuesday, the Governor had announced the nominations of Ikhilor and Osagie, both of whom were screened and confirmed by the State House of Assembly in record time.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Okpebholo charged the new officials with the responsibility of supporting his administration’s vision and prioritising the needs of Edo State’s citizens.

“I was voted to work, and everybody should be ready to work,” he stated.

“I carefully selected these appointees for their proven integrity. Working together, we aim to accomplish great things for Edo State. Our best is yet to come.”

In response, Ikhilor pledged his commitment to the Governor’s goals, promising to drive meaningful change and development in the State.

Osagie also expressed dedication to the Governor’s agenda, assuring that he would work to protect the rights of Edo’s citizens.

“I’ll ensure that the rights of Edo people are safeguarded as we strive to achieve the Governor’s vision,” he affirmed.
