Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okunneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has attributed his recent troubles with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to his acceptance of the “Best Dressed Female” award at a Nollywood movie premiere hosted by actress Eniola Ajao.
Bobrisky’s encounter with the EFCC began when he was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while attempting to board a KLM flight to Amsterdam.
Reports indicate that his arrest was linked to allegations of bribing EFCC officers to drop previous money laundering charges.
Bobrisky took to social media to seek public sympathy, sharing a video where he claimed to have sustained injuries during his arrest. “Nigerians, help me. EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” he lamented.
He was later transferred to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja for questioning. This comes amid another controversy in which Bobrisky was accused of bribing Nigerian Correctional Service officials to secure preferential treatment while serving a jail sentence for naira abuse.
Viral audio recordings had suggested that he paid for better conditions during his detention.
Reflecting on the series of events, Bobrisky expressed regret over his decision to accept the “Best Dressed Female” award, which came with a ₦1 million prize.
In a post on Instagram, he vowed never to compete for such accolades again.
“My problem started when I collected Best Dressed Female with a ₦1 million prize. For my life, if I see an award for Best Dressed Female, I go disappear from that location,” he wrote.
Despite the controversies, Bobrisky remains bold, declaring himself a “baddie with class” and challenging critics who question his claim to the title.
