UK-based Nigerian gospel singer, Blessing Kpokpo, has organized a musical competition tagged “Grace Challenge” for primary and secondary schools in Ogun State, Nigeria.

The event, held at The Purpose Hotel and Resort in Mowe, brought together 41 schools from the Mowe-Ofada axis, culminating in a grand finale featuring 21 schools.

The competition centered on choreography to Kpokpo’s gospel songs, particularly “We Are Victorious”, and aimed to inspire courage and faith in God among young participants.

Winners across the school categories received a total of ₦1 million in prizes.

Speaking on the initiative, Famiwo Folorunsho, Chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Mowe-Ofada Unit, noted the impact of the competition.

“When Blessing approached us for partnership, we found the song and its message deeply uplifting,” he said.

“This project involved stages of the competition where participants danced to her songs, and impartial judges selected the best entries. The grand finale is not just a competition for talent but an avenue to impact young minds.”

Evangelist Dr. Andrew Oseremhen, Global Director of Heavenly Vision Global Gospel Outreach and Chairman of Blessing Kpokpo’s Ministry, stressed the event’s focus on shaping future leaders.

“The younger generation is the future of every nation. When they know God early and have a righteous mindset, they are better equipped to lead,” he said. “This program is about giving them direction and birthing a vision rooted in faith and purpose.”

For Kpokpo, the “Grace Challenge” is part of her broader vision of using music as a tool for gospel impact.

Recounting the inspiration behind her ministry, she shared how a series of divine encounters during the COVID-19 pandemic led her to accept God’s calling.

“My ministry started in 2019,” she explained. “I had a dream where Jesus called me to lead a hymn. Later, during a time of misery and struggle, God revealed to me the power of gospel music to lift burdens. This encounter became the foundation of my mission to change lives through music and the word.”

The song “We Are Victorious”, used in the competition, was born out of this divine inspiration. “God told me to prepare for challenges but assured me of victory, just as He promised Joshua in the Bible,” she said.

Kpokpo urged others to support her mission to spread gospel music to schools globally.

“This is not about financial gain but about imparting lives. We need more partners to help us make Christ known to the younger generation,” she added.
