Last Sunday, some of the best in the Nigerian music scene were at the prestigious new Expo Hall, Eko Hotel & Suites in honour of Chocolate City boy, Ice Prince. They had converged for the rave rapper’s much anticipated album release concert.

Though the concert kicked off rather late, but by 9pm, with the appearance on stage of the gig’s co-anchors on-air personality Ik Osakioduwa and actress Funke Akindele, things began to happen.

The event recorded appearances by several top artistes including South Africa’s HHP, Ghanaian Sarkodie, 2Face Idibia, D’Prince, D’banj, Ara, Davido, Naeto C, Durella, JahBless, W4 and Wizkid.

Most of the performances were in concert with a live band that had M.I. on the piano and Jesse Jagz on the drums.

Abimbola Fashola, wife of the Lagos State governor, who is fast becoming a social butterfly, was also present at the concert. Funke Akindele gave away CDs of her new movie The Return of Jenifa and put up a N50,000 challenge where no winner emerged.

Beat FM’s DJ Caise was behind the turntable with the exception of Naeto C’s performance which was handled by his official DJ, DJ Neptune.

The highpoint of the night was when the Choc Boiz stormed the stage for a joint performance with all artistes that had got on stage earlier, with guests asking for an encore.

“This is the biggest event right now. It’s simply a success story for the young rapper (Ice Prince) who really understands the game. I am happy to be part of the success story,” DJ Jimmy Jatt told Showbiz Trends.
