Oyo: Two docked for stealing 23,650 litres of petrol from employer

The Police have docked 46-year-old Oyewole Gboyega and 34-year old Adeyemi Rotimi before Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 23,650 litres of petrol from their employer, Gastab Haulage Limited in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Police docked Gboyega and Rotimi of undisclosed addresses on two counts bordering on conspiracy and stealing, which they pleaded not guilty to.

The prosecuting counsel, Cpl. David Adepoju, told the court that the defendants allegedly conspired together to steal the petrol.

Adepoju said the defendants allegedly stole the petrol between 2018 to 2024 at Kilometre 18, Ibadan/ Lagos Expressway, Ojoo area in Ibadan, property of Gastab Haulage Ltd.

Adepoju said the offence contravened Section 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Defence Counsel, Mr Wasiu Raheem, asked for defendants’ bail in the most liberal term.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N5 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must be a landed property owner with survey, while the second surety must be a blood relations to the defendants.

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till April 8 for hearing.
