Why marriage is not on my radar – Timaya

Popular Nigerian singer Timaya has shed light on his reasons for remaining unmarried despite his remarkable success in the music industry.

In a recent interview with Naija FM, the artiste, known for his hit songs and charismatic persona, revealed that marriage has never been a priority for him, though he remains open to the possibility in the future.

“I’ve never been a married guy right from time, but it can change because marriage ‘dey craze.’ I just look at it like if I marry today, would I be able to get out? In all my previous relationships, I was the one who got out because I don’t like stress,” Timaya said.

The singer explained that his reluctance to tie the knot stems from a strong desire for personal freedom and his aversion to stress.

He emphasized the importance of communication in any relationship, noting that honesty and transparency are non-negotiable for him.

“If you have a problem with me, let’s talk about it because I don’t like going to bed thinking about things; I go die o. I don’t like anything to bother me at all,” he added.

On fatherhood, Timaya shared insights into his family dynamics. He disclosed that while his children live with their respective mothers, he maintains a close bond with them. The artiste noted that being a father comes with its challenges but is equally rewarding.

“My kids often come to spend quality time with me, and I enjoy those moments. Even though I’m not in a romantic relationship with their mothers, we all have a respectful and familial relationship,” he explained.
