Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on Tuesday presented a ₦605.8 billion budget estimate to the State House of Assembly for the 2025 fiscal year.
Tagged the “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo”, the budget represents a 25% increase over the 2024 budget.
The Okpebholo stated that the 2025 budget is strategically aligned with his five-point agenda: Security, Infrastructural Development, Healthcare, Food Sufficiency, and Education.
A breakdown of the budget shows that ₦223 billion (37%) is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while ₦381 billion (63%) will be allocated to capital projects.
Specific allocations include ₦162 billion for road development, ₦48 billion for education, ₦63.9 billion for healthcare, and ₦4.5 billion for agriculture.
“We have condensed these programmes into the State Development Plan, which will serve as the foundation for my administration in 2025,” Okpebholo said.
He further expressed pride in presenting a budget that includes specific projects directly aligned with the state’s vision of a “New Edo Rising.”
It is worth noting that the 2025 budget presentation is the shortest ever presented to the House.
