Shot Bishop Recounts Ordeal

Bishop Adol-Paul Obinwogu, general overseer, Redeem Pillar of Fire International, has attributed his survival of the assassination attempt on his life to purely divine intervention. This, according to him, is because the gunmen expressed shock that he did not die.

He said there was no help from any quarter through out the 45 minutes the operation lasted and the gunmen pumped over 50 bullets into his body without any resistance whatsover.

Obinwogu was shot by unknown persons suspected to be hired killers early this year on his way to a crusade in the eastern part of the country. He was flown abroad where several bullets were removed from his body.

He said that was the fourth attempt on his life.

Obinwogu, while narrating his ordeal, said he was attending a crusade in Anambra State and while on his way to the crusade ground, gunmen ambushed and attacked his convoy.

He said he was dragged out of his car and shot severally.

He said while the assault lasted, nobody came to his rescue, “even the security men ran away leaving me in a pool of blood before I was eventually rushed to a hospital by kind Nigerians.”

He was later flown abroad.

He said he survived because of God’s intervention as the assailants were paid to kill him.

“Though the gunmen pumped at several bullets into my body, they did not succeded in taking my life because God intervened and they missed their target,” he said

The bishop attributed his survival to God’s intervention and wants to thank God for sparing his life.

The thanksgiving ceremony comes on Sunday, 23 October, 2011at the church headquarters at Ajao estate, Lagos. Dignitaries from within and outside the country are expected at the event.
