The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, marked the New Year with a visit to former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) at his Minna residence in Niger State.

Obi described the visit as an opportunity to exchange thoughts on national issues and seek wisdom from the elder statesman, whom he referred to as a “father figure.”

Sharing the moment on social media, Obi wrote, “From Jigawa State, I travelled to Minna, Niger State, to pay a visit to General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida. The visit was an opportunity to wish him a happy New Year and to exchange thoughts on national issues.”

Obi emphasised the value of Babangida’s perspectives, stating, “General Babangida’s wisdom and perspectives remain very important, and I always deeply appreciate the chance to visit him and listen to his invaluable advice and words of wisdom.”

Known for his slogan, “A new Nigeria is POssible,” Obi remains vocal about his vision for a better nation, often engaging with leaders across various sectors to discuss pathways to progress.
