A sombre memorial event turned into chaos late Wednesday when a mass shooting outside the Amazura concert hall in Queens left ten young people wounded.

The “celebration of life,” honouring a man murdered three months ago, was shattered around 11:15 p.m. as at least three gunmen unleashed a barrage of over 30 bullets at a crowd of about 15 people waiting to enter the venue on 144th Place near Archer Avenue.

According to Daily News, the victims, six female and four male aged between 16 and 20, were rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, the attackers fled west on 91st Street in a light-coloured sedan with out-of-state plates, leaving behind a shaken community and unanswered questions.

NYPD Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera addressed the press at the scene, dismissing any links to terrorism but vowing justice: “There’s zero tolerance for senseless shootings like this. Those responsible will be apprehended and brought to justice.”

Authorities are investigating whether the attack was gang-related or stemmed from tensions earlier inside the venue.

The nightclub, which can host up to 4,000 people and is known for its vibrant DJ performances, expressed sorrow over the incident.

In a statement on Instagram, Amazura’s management pledged to support law enforcement in the investigation, calling the act “senseless.”

“We are deeply saddened by the recent and unfortunate isolated incident that occurred. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this senseless act. We are working closely with law enforcement to ensure a thorough investigation and to help bring those responsible to justice.

“According to the police, all victims are expected to recover with non-life threatening injuries. We urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the police by contacting – CrimeStoppers 1(800)577-TIPS. All calls are confidential. Your assistance is vital in addressing this tragic event.

“We also want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our patrons, event promoters, and the local community for their overwhelming outpouring of support and concern during this difficult time,” Amazura’s management said.

The event had been organised to commemorate the birthday of a murder victim born on New Year’s Day, according to police sources.
