Etisalat, Pan African Varsity Partner On Global Entrepreneurship

In its commitment to supporting the growth of entrepreneurship in the country, Etisalat Nigeria has been appointed the 2011 national partner of the Global Entrepreneurship Week organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) of the Pan African University.

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world’s largest celebration of innovators and entrepreneurs who launch startups that drive economic growth. GEW is designed to inspire people everywhere through local, national and global activities focused to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. Events held as part of GEW celebration include networking, conferences and seminars which connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors and introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.

The Chief Commercial Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Wael Ammar, expressed delight at the decision by EDC of Pan African University to appoint his firm as the 2011 national partner of GEW in Nigeria. He pledged Etisalat’s commitment towards ensuring the growth of entrepreneurship in Nigeria by facilitating programmes that will help discover and develop talented entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

“Etisalat is a company that seeks to empower its subscriber base one of which are the entrepreneurs. Right from the inception of our services in Nigeria, we have developed many innovative products for the market and as such we are delighted to be associated with the GEW 2011,” he said.

Ammar also added that no country in the world can go far in development without assisting the growth of entrepreneurs, which he noted facilitates economic and social development. According to him, Etisalat has always explored opportunities to enable Nigerians to develop their potential and will ensure that through the GEW, more entrepreneurs will emerge in the country.

Some of this year’s series of activities included Generating Demand Workshop for SMEs, SME toolkit conference in Lagos and Grooming Enterprise Leaders conference in Abuja, and were supported under the auspices of the Elite world SME prepaid product offered by Etisalat, other activities are still planned to take place in a couple of days which include the SME conference exhibition and gala night, social sector dialogue and the enterprise party, which is the grand finale of the Global Entrepreneurship Week scheduled to hold on December 8, 2011 in Lagos.
