the renowned Nigerian media figure,Tolu Oniru, widely recognized as Toolz, has voiced her view on podcasting, suggesting that if she held the presidential office, individuals would need approval to launch podcasts.
Toolz emphasized the necessity of an English proficiency and sanity assessment for aspiring podcasters.
“If I was ever to become President, you will have to apply to do a podcast. You will have to write an English proficiency test and also do a sanity test,” she said.
On her podcast, The Off Air Show, Toolz expressed her vision for a more regulated podcasting industry.
Podcast culture is on the rise in the Nigeria, with many of their hosts and guests sparking controversies on social media with their “outrageous” claims and “provocative” comments.
Consequently, some social media users have been calling for the censorship of podcasting in Nigeria.
