Invisble Football Club have won Prince Bayo Balogun Football Championship tagged Chairman’s Cup 2010 after the team beat their opponents Ajetunmobi FC 5-3 through penalty shoot-outs in the final played last weekend at Magbon-Alade Grammar School, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.
The match, watched by a capacity crowd that included the chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Prince Bayo Balogun, who sponsored the grassroots soccer tourney, delighted the fans as the players of the two finalists showcased their football artistry.
The third place match was won by Ajegbewa FC. They defeated Real FC 3-2. The Most Valuable Player, MVP award of the tourney was won by Ajetunmobi’s Lanre Ayodele, while the highest goal scorer was Emmanuel Gbemi.
Chairman of the local government, Prince Balogun commended the winners for putting up a good performance that earned the trophy and urged the losers to go back home and prepare hard for the next edition.
“I’m very happy to see that the competition ended on a bright note with the winners deserving to take home the trophy and the prize money. I have to commend the organisers for doing a good job. They showed serious concern and commitment to lift the local council,†Balogun said.
