Sports Development: Surulere LG To Hold Stakeholders’ Meeting

Surulere Sports Development Centre has commenced operation by making series of consultations with notable individuals, private enterprises and public institutions for a successful take off of its programme and projects.

To realise this objective, the body has concluded plans to organise a stakeholders’ forum, which will hold on 2 June at the O’Jez Restaurant inside the National Stadium, Lagos, Nigeria.

The stakeholders’ meeting, which will be an interactive session, will involve private sectors, government officials, sports journalists, sports administrators and coaches.

The  coordinator of the event, Mr. Dotun Atilade, said the body plans to organise many programmes that will not only benefit Surulere local government, but Lagos State as a whole. Some of the proposed projects, according to Atilade, include  a Sports Archive Project and Surulere Community Sports Library.

Atilade added that the body will also organise an inter schools community sports clinic during the  holidays. He said the body is planning to organise a novelty match between the Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps and the Nigerian Police, Area C Command, Surulere in memory of the 20 October, 2008 clash between the Police and the men of Nigerian Army at Barracks bus stop.

Some of the invited guests for the stakeholders’ meeting are Prince Ademola Adeniji Adele, Lagos State Commissioner for Sports, Prince ‘Wale Oladunjoye, Senior Special Adviser on Grassroots Sports Development to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, Chairman, Lagos State Sports Council, Agboola Dabiri, Chairman, Lagos Football Association, Taiwo Afinnih and a host of others.
