With the finals of the Nestle Milo Secondary Schools Basketball Championship still few months away, students of the schools that qualified for the finals coming up in Lagos in October are already talking tough.
Speaking with P.M.Sports after leading his school to victory in the Central Conference, Coach Baaki Gilbert of St. Joseph Secondary Day School, Benue State, said they are ready for any opposition after they scaled the hurdles in the conference.
He stated that having come this far, he believes they have what it takes to go all the way in the finals.
Gilbert noted that with good preparations, they have a team that are hungry for success. He charged his colleagues to be ready for the final battle.
He commended the sponsors, Nestle Nigeria Plc. for bankrolling the championship, as students now look forward to the championship every year.
He appealed to Nestle to continue with the sponsorship of the championship, which has produced many talented players for the country.
Captain of Dalex Royal College, Hope Disenedozi, boasted of coming to Lagos to pick the title at the expense of other schools in the final.
Disenedozi, who led her school to win the ticket in the girl’s category ahead of favourites, Queen of the Rosary Girls’ College, disclosed that reaching the finals is just the beginning of many good things to come for her school.
