An attempt by three fake pastors to defraud a Zimbabwean woman (name withheld) of N500,000 was foiled yesterday by the police at market bus stop, Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria .
P.M.NEWS gathered that one of the fake pastors met the Zimbabwean lady on her way from church on Sunday. He pretended not to know his way and asked for a street from the victim.
The other two accomplices later arrived the scene in their red Honda CRV SUV with Abuja number CR 297 RSH.
They picked the woman and while on the way told her they had visions about her.
One of them was reported to have said: “This is the woman who needed to be delivered from spiritual attack.â€
The lady believed them and said she agreed to pay the fake pastors N500,000 for their services.
She, however, told them she had only N100,000 at home and promised to pay the balance of N400,000 yesterday.
During their discussion at market bus stop yesterday, a police patrol team was passing by. The three fake pastors thought they were after them and took to their heels.
Assisted by okada riders and passers-by, the policemen chased after the three fake pastors, and arrested them. They were taken to Onikan Police Station, Ikoyi, Lagos.
When our correspondent visited the station, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) was not available, but a senior officer confirmed the incident.
He said the fake pastors have been transferred to Oduduwa Police Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos State.
