Teslim Balogun Foundation To Honour Dead Heroes

Teslim Balogun Foundation is organising  a posthumous honour for the late Haruna Ilerika and some of the late sports personalities in the country to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the death of Teslim ‘Thunder’ Balogun.

President of the foundation, Kayode Balogun, stated that the event, which will be organised annually, is to honour and recognise past football heroes and other sports personalities.

Balogun told PM Sports that this year’s event which will hold on Friday inside the main bowl of Teslim Balogun Stadium was put together to support the families of the late Ilerika, the late Sam Nwobum, a.k.a. ‘Ayor’, the late sports photographer, Jide Dehinsilu and  the late sports reporter, Sunday Ademu, among others.

Also at the occasion, a novelty match between All Stars International of Lagos led by the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola and Managers Oldies Football Club, captained  by  Chief of Staff to the Governor, Lanre Babalola will take place in honour of the past heroes.

Meanwhile, the coach of Managers Football Club, Jide Oloyede, is talking tough ahead of the match, saying his team will beat All Stars.

He said the match,which will feature players from 45 years old, will be very exciting and interesting as many former Nigerian internationals have indicated their interest to feature for both sides.

Dignitaries expected at the event  are Lagos Commissioner for Sports, Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele, Chief Adegboye Oniginde and many others.
