Woman Docked For Impersonation

A middle-aged woman, Miss Folake Fashola, who has been parading herself as a sister to Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State, has been arraigned before the Ebute-Metta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos for impersonation.

Folake was arrested following a complaint to the police by Laureta Chukwuleta of Samfra Preparatory Nursery and Primary School, 37, Simpson Street, Ebute-Metta, Yaba, Lagos State.

The complainant told the police that Folake invaded the school on 5 and 7 August this year and damaged properties and also stole N35,000.

The complainant stated that the accused forced the pupils who were receiving lessons and other workers to vacate the premises, claiming that the building used by the school was willed to her by the governor’s father.

The police were invited and she was arrested. On interrogation, the police discovered that she was not related to Governor Fashola’s family and has no affiliation with the said building.

She was charged with breach of peace, wilful damage and stealing, offences contrary to and punishable under sections 249 (d) 390 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. II, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

When the charge was read to her, she pleaded not guilty and the matter was adjourned till 8 September for mention.
