Badagry To Invest In Education

The Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Moses Hositode Dosu, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to invest heavily on education and skill acquisition programme for the social, physical and infrastructural development of the area.

Hon. Dosu believed that for the area to return to its past glorious and enviable position in the state, there is the need to invest heavily on  education of the people through joint efforts.

He disclosed that his administration’s efforts in this regard is already paying off as over 90 per cent of the 700 candidates given the 2009 free G.C.E. Examination forms and tutorial courses performed very well.

He added that plans are already in the pipeline to begin the 2010 free tutorial courses and to  give free G.C.E. forms to all successful candidates.

Similarly, he disclosed that many people have registered with the Local Government Adult Education centres in order to learn how to read and write.

Dosu said that there are 500 students undergoing free two year skill acquisition programme, while another 300 students are undergoing one year free computer literacy programme.

The Local Government Chairman also disclosed that artisans in the area will soon be empowered in order to encourage them to be self employed and be able to face greater challenges in the future.

He however implored all Badagrians to cooperate with one another so that they can benefit from the good tidings in the area.
