Lagos Auditor-General To Tour LGs, LCDAs

The Office of the Auditor–General for Local Government, Lagos State, Nigeria is set to embark on an inspection of capital projects executed by the 20 local governments and the 37 local council development areas in the state.

A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary/Auditor-General for Local Government, Mr. Muhammed Hassan, said that the exercise will commence on 23 August and ends on 6 September, 2010 with specific attention paid to only projects undertaken and completed between July 2009 and June 2010.

The last exercise was carried out in August 2009 and covered projects executed between July 2007 and June 2009.

The statement said in order to have a hitch free exercise, qualified engineers from the Lagos State Ministry of Works would be part of the tour.

Lagos State Development and Property Co-operation and Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Development Authority have been co-opted to strengthen the audit team with the requisite competence.

The statement implored all councils to cooperate with the inspection teams toward timely completion of the inspection.
