The Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly committee on Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mufutau Egberongbe, has explained that his committee would not relax until it addresses all the petitions it had received concerning defective structures in the state.

Egberongbe made this promise when he inspected some of the defective structures as well as government properties on the Lagos Island .

He said some of the petitioners had complained about properties encroaching on their properties while some others have raised issues over the state of the Balogun Shopping Mall which is now an eyesore.

He said if the situation in the shopping mall is not addressed urgently, the structure might collapse in no time.

“We are also working on government properties which have been occupied for years without the rents being paid by those who occupied them.

He said at the end of all the inspection, the grievances of the petitioners as well as the degradations of properties in the state would have been addressed, adding that to do this, the committee would liaise with the government ministry and agencies in charge to end such complaints.
