Members of the International Canoe Federation and Confederation of Africa Canoe will arrive Nigeria on 14 September to conduct Theory& Practical Examinations for 20 Nigerian athletes.
The examinations, which will be done between 16 and 26 September, will take place at the Nigeria Navy Sailing Club in Lagos.
The examinations is organised to certify Nigerians in order to take part in the next All Africa Games and other international competitions
Secretary of the Rowing & Sailing Federation, Victor Anusa, told PM Sports that the examinations will help Nigerian athletes to become professionals and have the opportunity to take part in the future international competitions.
“The Theory and Practical examinations are the beginning of a new thing to come. After the exams and if our athletes are successful, it means that our athletes will be going for international competitions,†he said
Commenting on the game in Nigeria, he admitted that the game is as not popular as football, athletics and boxing. He added that the president of the Federation, Real Admiral Festus Porpeni, has promised to take the game to greater height.
