Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, South West Nigeria, Akeem Omoyele Sulaimon, has urged Nigerians not to write off the country, but pray for its well being instead.
He gave the advice in a message to Muslims and the people of Bariga to mark the end of this yearâ€
The council chief said the country has passed through avoidable intriguing moments since independence and that this accounted for its present sorry situation.
According to Sulaimon fondly called Oris by his teeming admirers, the need to offer positive prayers for the nation has become dire, given the fact that Allah has been kind to the country by pulling it back on track even when all hopes appeared lost, adding, “if God loves us, the best we could do as a people was to be positive in our prayers and thoughts about Nigeria.â€
In another development, youths in the local government will soon be positioned to become self-reliant through relevant training that will make them less dependent on government.
This assurance was given by the chairman in a chat with LG Circuit on Monday.
Sulaimon stated that in ensuring economic survival of youths, his administration has decided to organise various vocational skills acquisition programmes for them at different levels.
According to him, the training in the areas of crafts, barbing, sewing, bead making, hair dressing, computer and soap making, among other vocations, will soon be organised for the youth in order to make them self-employed.
The council boss disclosed further that his administration would not relent in its efforts at engaging the youth in other training that would assist them.
