All is set for the Public Presentation of two books written by the Honourable Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili.
The books titled: The War Against Counterfeit Medicine: My Story, and Selected Speeches, will be unveiled on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
According to a statement by Francis Agbo, Special Adviser to the Minister on media, The War Against Counterfeit Medicine: My Story briefly tells the life story of Prof. Akunyil.
It also chronicles in detail, her tenure NAFDAC, the attempt on her by drug barons and counterfeiters for daring to safeguard the health system, the challenges she faced, and her stewardship as Director-General from 2002 to December 2008 when she was appointed Minister.
The book has 416 pages and contains her Selected Speeches, a compilation of some of her major speeches as NAFDAC DG. The books will be presented by, Prof. Wole Soyinka while Ms Arunma Oteh, DG of the SEC is billed to review them.
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is billed to be the Special Guest of Honour.
The occasion is to be chaired by former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd) with Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi, as Chief Host.
The event will attract several dignitaries from all sectors of the Nigerian economy.
