It is not just a supermarket, it is like being in the open Iddo Market where you can find just anything ranging from meat, fish, pepper, rice, onion, yam, milk, etc. It is uniquely a new kind of idea.
Located along Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, Lady Butcher Supermarket is primarily a one-stop place for those who want to buy any kind of beef.
The meat is stored in the most hygienic world standard and sold by weight.
As the name implies, the supermarket is actually owned by an Analytical Chemistry graduate, Mrs. Olufunke Bamidele Oke, now a butcher.
She started by selling meat from one office to another several years ago and later became involved in the slaughter of cow for beef.
Besides selling meat, Lady Butcher has recently added sale of groceries to its business.
Explaining the uniqueness of the new addition, Mrs. Bamidele said “this is now a one-stop supermarket for the ever-busy Lagosians. Instead of going to one market to buy one thing, then to another for another, you just walk in here and buy all your household needs.â€
The prices of the items sold at Lady Butcher are surprisingly the same as what obtains in the open market.
“Prices at Lady Butcher are as good as what obtains in Agege Market. We sell at same price with the market women. Ours, however, comes with an advantage as we give you much more hygienically and conveniently,†she added.
Consumers’ Advocate observed while being conducted around the supermarket, that items like gari, rice and beans are being sold in measures as demanded by buyers.
