Chief Coach of New Generation, Chris Erafez has blasted his players for their poor display against Kosofe Local Council football team 1 in the opening match of the Community Cup played last Saturday.
Kosofe LG 1 forced New Generation to a 2-2 draw in an encounter watched by a scanty crowd at the Anthony Village Sports Centre.
Rasheed Opere and Kareem Bolanrinwa scored the two goals for New Generation in 32th and 67th minutes to take a deserved lead in the half time. Noah Odufu and Jide Oluwafisayo replied with a goal apiece for Kosofe LG 1 to level scores before full time.
Erafez said his players were too confident and lost focus which allowed their opponents to get their equalising goals at the tail end of the game.
“It was a bad day for me because the players let me down. We deserved to win the match but due to the complacency of our players, they lost the three points at stake,†said Erafez, who vowed to overhaul the team before their next game.
In his own remarks, Kosofe LG 1 Captain, Noah Odufu was full of praises for his team’s performance and boasted that they will win their next game against Fed United.
“I am happy that we did not lose our first match against New Generation. We fought hard and got a point at the end of the match. I believe that our next match will be better,†he said
Action continues today as New Generation confront Cruizero FC while Invincible tackle Junior Striker later in another match.
